How and When Can I Register for WSET Exam?Updated 8 days ago

📆 When Can I Register for a WSET Exam?

You can register for WSET exam as soon as you have enrolled for a course and latest within 12 months of the course start. If you are enrolled for On-Demand Course, the deadline to register is 12 months from the course purchase date. Please, note NVWA purchases exams from WSET about 30 days prior the exam date, so the earliest exam available for registration could be four weeks out. You can see the exam availability on our website by searching for exam dates e.g. "WSET Level 1 exam dates"

I am taking in-person course, do I need to register for exam?

WSET Level 3 Award in Wines in-person courses have the exam on the last day of the course at 10am-1pm. You will be automatically registered for the exam upon enrollment but have option to opt out >30 days before the exam date.

WSET Level 1 and 2 Award in Wines exams are offered in remotely invigilated online format only. This allows students to focus on learning in the course without the stress of having to take the exam in the end.

This offers several significant advantages to help you succeed and to improve the overall administrative process:

  • Flexible Scheduling: Online exams provide more options (about 2 x month) for when you can sit for the test, allowing you to choose a time that best fits your personal schedule and peak productivity hours.
  • Enhanced Study Time: By moving the exam online, we are able to extend the window between our intensive in-person sessions and the exam date. Instead of having to take the exam during your in-person course, you have up to 12 months from the course start date to register. This allows you more time to synthesize the material and study thoroughly.
  • Faster Results: Transitioning away from paper-based testing significantly streamlines the grading process. You can expect to receive your grades in approximately two weeks, a substantial improvement over the traditional four-plus week waiting period.
  • Eco-Friendly Approach: Moving to a digital format eliminates the need for physical paper and the environmental impact of shipping materials to London, UK, aligning with our commitment to more sustainable practices.
